To reduce costs for Americans at the gas pump and support domestic farmers, President Joe Biden is promoting E15 ethanol by directing the EPA to lift a summer ban on the fuel.

150 million gallons of biofuel is produced at the POET bioprocessing plant where Biden made the announcement on Tuesday. This move will create good jobs,  reduce foreign oil dependence, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

C.J. Petersen, chairman of the Carroll County Democratic Party and a leader in the state party, was one of the public attendees.

“He really demonstrated his commitment to the rural economy and helping rural families get back on their feet and thrive,” Petersen told the Carroll Times Herald. “I really appreciated him coming out and talking about rural issues.”

Peterson pointed out how important it is for Democratic leaders to show up in rural spaces, and he’s appreciative of Biden making their presence known. He also praised Biden for signing the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

“It turned into an opportunity, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do today,” Biden said. “To all of you, I can’t thank you enough for all the work you put in, all the faith you have in your state, your community, your country, and I just want to say God bless you all.”
