The Economic Development Administration (EDA) announced last month a $1.5 million award in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to increase cargo capacity to help the community transition away from coal toward a manufacturing and logistics hub.

“This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Southwest Missouri Council of Governments (SMCOG),” reported the EDA. The project is expected to create 94 new jobs and $28 million in private investments.
