Rural Prosperity Agenda a Priority in Iowa

Iowa Representative Cindy Axne noted the importance of rural communities to Iowa’s overall prosperity this week.

“[The Rural Prosperity Agenda]… will cut through the bureaucratic red tape that prevents critical funds from actually being able to be used,” said Axne in an opinion piece in The Perry News.

Many people chalk rural communities up to being White farmers, but as the majority of people in small towns and rural communities don’t make their living from agriculture and communities of color are the stabilizing and growth forces in many of these communities, this stereotype is beginning to change.

From access to mental health care, emergency services, pushing back on corporate consolidation in agriculture and working to cut costs for families, Axne’s recognition of what rural prosperity means is staged to help all of Iowa prosper.
