Alabama just closed applications for its $100 million in American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding to help Alabamians at risk for foreclosure during the pandemic. The support includes paying up to 12 months of mortgage payments for people in need.

Alabama has distributed $39 million already from this funding to 2,808 households in every Alabama County except for two.

By October of 2023, the full $100 million is projected to be spent, supporting over 4,000 Alabama households.

At this point, 1,423 applications in Alabama are still pending review. Application denials and withdrawals only amount to 612.

Most of the applicants for the program were employed, with less than 10 percent reporting a disability or unemployment.
