Rural Voters Want Good Jobs – They Are Coming from the IRA

Polling from RuralOrganizing.org has shown consistently over 5 years that rural constituents want increases in jobs and wages, decreases in daily costs, and improved quality of life in our small towns and rural communities.

Since the Inflation Reduction Act was passed last August, over 100,000 clean energy jobs have been announced according to a Climate Power report. These jobs are plotted on a US map by CNBC.

This accompanies 90 new clean energy projects, including in small towns, representing $89.5 billion in new investments, as of the end of January.

The Inflation Reduction Act is the biggest climate investment in US history, totalling $369 billion. The bill’s climate provisions are also projected to cut domestic carbon emissions by about 40% by 2030.

More jobs are to come; the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts Amherst conducted an analysis showing the legislation is projected to create more than 9 million clean energy and climate-related jobs over the next decade.
