Grants for child care providers in Superior, WI made possible by ARPA

Starting April 1st, $200,000 in grant money is available for licensed child care providers in Superior to address a growing childcare crisis. Funding has been made available from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

Jenny Van Sickle, council Vice President, said, “First of all, we acknowledge this is not going to be enough. But we we also recognize that we have a duty to step up and the City of Superior is doing that. So with a lot of thanks to the planning department, the applications are as simple as possible for providers. And they are built on a graduated scale.”

Noah’s Ark Day Care is closing in June. Kendra Quain, shared center director shared, “We’re doing great financially. But I can’t find staff. When you’re competing with Kwik Trip and Walmart, we can’t keep up with the wages.”
