While in Washington state last week, US Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced $1 billion from the Infrastructure, Investments, and Jobs Act (IIJA) to modify infrastructure that prevents fish passage, an issue critical to Tribal Nations, healthy ecologies, and healthy economies in the Northwest.
State and local government entities can begin applying for funds as of October 7th.
The program aims to also increase infrastructure resilience against more frequent and harsh climate events, like floods.
