Duffield Virginia to Receive $6.4 Million ARPA Investment

With a population under 100 people, Duffield, Virginia is in for a big investment from the Economic Develoment Administration (EDA) – $6.4 million are being awarded through the Coal Communities Commitment from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

The coal town is near Natural Tunnel State Park and along the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail.

The funds will be used to create a new, multi-tenant business facility and is expected to create 285 jobs and generate $5.4 million in private investment.

Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin celebrated the federal ARPA investment: “I applaud today’s investment into the Lonesome Pine Regional Industrial Facilities Authority. By putting resources into Virginia’s economy, we are ensuring a better future for our Commonwealth.”
